When you look at these beautiful faces, it is hard to believe that these children live in some of the harshest conditions found anywhere. Jal Vihar is a slum community that runs alongside railroad tracks in New Delhi, India. The scenery and smells are overwhelming, but these children call it home. We have had 40 children coming regularly to our education program in this community for over a year, but this picture was taken at a recent Kids' Camp that drew 170 children to enjoy games, sports, singing, crafts, and special programs. What a special treat for children to enjoy during their school break.
Programs like this one in Jal Vihar not only provide education support and fun, they work to preserve families in dislocated, slum, and refugee communities.
